M101 and Surroundings with ASTRA by Susy Ghia

Close look of the galaxy M101

The raw images have been shot by Susy Ghia with ASTRA remote telescope, a 90cm f/4.5 reflector with camera SBIG ST-8300M.

The processed image is the composition of 2 frames with exposition of 900 seconds per frame. I used IRIS for registration and stacking, then I used Lightroom CC to stretch the levels and make it more pleasant to look at. I did data reduction using Astrometrica and APT to extract a source list, then I analyzed the luminance frame using TOPCAT and Aladin.
